KARACHI: Former captain and all-rounder Shahid Afridi on Tuesday launched his new project ‘Road to Education Tour’ to further the cause of girls education in Pakistan.

Announcing the details of the project at a crowded press conference at his residence along with squash legend and SAF president Jahangir Khan, Afridi said: “This project will be launched Shahid Afridi Foundation (SAF) and will start from Multan on Oct 21 and end at Lahore on Oct 31.

“I myself will be leading the project which focuses on raising awareness about the importance of education for underprivileged children in Pakistan, especially girls, and establishing a volunteer base for initiatives under taken by my foundation under the banner of ‘Lala Nation 10’” he said.

The tour will go through cities Multan, Muzaffargarh, Sadiqabad, Rahim Yar Khan, Bahawalpur, Sahiwal, Khanewal, Haroonabad, Mian Channu, Faisalabad, Daharki, Gujranwala, Sargoda, Sialkot, Gujrat and Nankana.

“Shahid Afridi Foundation invites everyone to take part in this tour which is solely dedicated to make quality education accessible for everyone,” the all-rounder said. Also present on the occasion were actor Adnan Siddiqui and singer and social worker Shehzad Roy.
