ISLAMABAD: Notices were issued to shopkeepers on Tuesday under Tobacco Vend Act 1958 after they were found doing business without holding licences, sources told Dawn.

The notices were served by a team of Excise Department during its visit to F-10, the deparment’s officials said, adding that dozens of shops and stores were inspected and documents checked. The officials found 40 shops of cigarettes doing business without valid licences. A few had not even applied for licences. The team also issued notices to 25 stores for failing to pay professional tax.
