GUJRAT, Aug 5: Police on Friday registered separate cases on different charges against two PPP candidates for the nazim slot. The first FIR was lodged under Section 11S-ATA by the Kunjah police against PPP’s Ihsanullah Prince from UC-16, Golayki.
According to the FIR, Ihsanullah had links with the banned Lashkar-i-Tayyaba and motivated the youth to join Jihad.
The case was registered on the complaint of PML candidate Safdar Mumtaz Sandhu, a former nazim from the same union council.
The second FIR was registered by the Civil Lines police against PPP’s Abdur Razzaq Saleemi for tampering with the voters’ list of UC-56. His rival, Mazhar Ali Nat, had stated before the returning officer that Saleemi had furnished before the court a bogus list while the actual list did not contain his name. The returning officer rejected his nomination papers on the same charges.
Mazhar Nat submitted an application to the Civil Lines police and got registered a case against Saleemi under sections 420/468/471 of the PPC.
Both candidates have gone underground fearing their arrest.
