QUETTA: A workshop on withholding tax was organised here at the Regional Tax Office on Thursday jointly by the RTO Quetta and Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority Balochistan to create awareness regarding statutory responsibilities regarding withholding tax.

In all, 83 representatives of different government and private sector organisations, including Provincial Disaster Management Authority, Accountant General Pakistan Revenue, Accountant General of Balochistan, Balochistan Rural Support Programme, Quetta Development Authority, Balochistan Development Authority, Excise and Taxation Department, universities and medical colleges attended the event.

The participants were informed about withholding tax responsibilities, importance of Active Taxpayers List, tax rates, filing of withholding statements, changes in tax laws through the Finance Act, 2019, use of FBR website and disadvantages of default on non-deduction of taxes and non-filing of statutory statements.

The workshop continued for two and half hours and was followed by a question-answer session
