KARACHI: A large number of employees and pensioners of the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) on Wednesday staged a protest demonstration before their head office and blocked main M.A. Jinnah Road for an hour.

The protesters were demanding release of 15 per cent increment in their salaries and pensions and payment of dues of some 4,000 retired KMC employees.

Traffic jams occurred due to the blockage of M.A. Jinnah Road.

However, later senior officials of the KMC and police held talks with the protesters and persuaded them to vacate the road.

After successful negotiations the protesters dispersed peacefully.
