KARACHI, Jan 15: Seven ships including bulk carriers to unload and load fertilizer and molasses are due to arrive at the outer anchorage on Wednesday, according to KPT sources.

Berth occupancy both at the dry and liquid wharves was maintained on the higher side at 67 per cent thanks to steady berthing and sailing of foreign flag vessels.

Seven ships, Global Power, Mildburg and Kota Salam to unload and load containers, Ibn Hawkel to offload general cargo, Warbah, Taipan and A.P. Merit to offload high speed diesel and to load molasses were berthed after the sailing of five.

The five ships, which departed included Global Power, PONL Everst, Mildburg, Johar and Kythnos, while Warbah, Brave Banner, Astro Venus, HSH Kusu, Bomay Star, and Bunga Bidara are expected to sail out on Wednesday.

Cargo handling activity at the wharves was active where a total tonnage of 91,226 tons comprising 22,031 tons of export cargo including 1,770 tons of rice and 6,300 tons of molasses and 69,195 tons of import tonnage including 4,457 tons of fertilizer was handled.

The following ships are due on Wednesday: Themera, to load 40,000 tons molasses, Battery Park to offload chemicals, Dubai and Leixoes to unload and load containers, Kaghan and Leyi to offload and load general cargo, Jouanna to offload 31,780 tons of DAP fertilizer.

Port Qasim

KARACHI, Jan 15: Contship Champion carrying containers was berthed at Qasim International Containers Terminal during the last 24 hours, says a PQA press release on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, two more ships with furnace oil and containers also arrived at the outer anchorage during the same period.

Five ships, Bahaguaa, Titanas, Altis-P, Stolt Vinland and Contship Champion were at the wharves and busy ing discharging edible oil, coal, general cargo, chemicals and containers.

Some 25,551 tons cargo including 7,50 tons edible oil, 4,380 tons coal, 5,840 tons general cargo, 7,801 tons chemicals and 579 containers (Teus), was handled.

Bahagia and Stolt Vinland sailed out on Tuesday morning.

The both ships were expected to take berths at Fotco and QICT respectively on Tuesday. Min Noble was due to arrive.
