TIMERGARA: The Lower Dir administration has started a crackdown on shopkeepers selling substandard biscuits, chips and beverages in the district.

The action was started after complaints raised by the local people recently during open kutcheris, an official of the administration told mediapersons here the other day.

He said that assistant commissioner, Samarbagh, Muhsin Salahuddin along with other officers raided different markets in the area and seized substandard chips, crisp wafers and beverages.

The team also raided Munda Bazaar and checked licences of shopkeepers and quality of food items.

The shopkeepers were warned to stop selling substandard items. The team also imposed fines on the traders selling low quality food items.

Deputy commissioner Saadat Hassan also directed assistant commissioner, Adenzai, to take action against the transporters supplying such substandard items at Chakdara, the entry point of the district.

ELECTROCUTED: An auto-mechanic identified as Daud Khan was electrocuted at his workshop in Gadar Barorai here on Sunday.

Residents said that the mechanic was busy in his work when power voltage suddenly surged and he got an electric shock. The mechanic died on the spot. Ouch police have registered the case.
