Blasters edge Dynamites in close finish

LAHORE: PCB Blasters clinched an exciting seven-run victory over PCB Dynamites in the second match of the National Triangular One-day Wom­en’s Cricket Cham­pionship at the Lahore Gymkhana Ground here on Wednesday.

Chasing 163, the Dyn­amites were dismissed for 155 in the final over despites the good contributions of Kainat Imtiaz, who hit a 105-ball 56 that included seven fours and skipper Nida Dar (33 off 32 balls, three fours and two sixes).

Nashra Sandhu and Aliya Riaz were he standout bowlers for the Blasters with figures of 2-25 and 2-46, respectively.

Earlier, the Blasters reached 162-8 in their 50 overs after opting to bat first at the toss. Sidra Ameen held the innings together with a patient knock of 44. She faced 89 deliveries and struck five boundaries.

Sana Mir excelled with ball for the Dynamites with three wickets for 3-26, while Ghulam Fatima 2-43.

It was the second straight for the Blasters, who had sealed a thrilling one-wicket win against the Challengers in the competition’s opening fixture on Tuesday.

The next match is slated to be played on Friday when the Challengers take on the Dynamites at the same venue.
