LAKKI MARWAT: The local police have finally selected a site for construction of a model police station in the militancy-hit Shah Hasankhel village of the district.

The establishment of police station was approved by provincial government in the remote rural locality, which once remained a stronghold of militants.

The village also witnessed a barbaric terror incident in 2010 when a suicide bomber detonated his explosives-laden truck in the middle of a volleyball ground during a match, killing over 100 people.

The provincial government approved the project of setting up four new police stations in the district including one in Shah Hasankhel village.

On Tuesday, DPO Qasim Ali Khan visited the selected site in the village. He said that Shah Hasankhel was the land of martyrs as villagers, especially youth and players, rendered sacrifices for restoration of peace and elimination of militancy.

He said that establishment of police station would help to eradicate crimes and social vices.

Also on Monday, the DPO rewarded policemen with commendation certificates and cash prizes for showing outstanding performance in actions against anti-social elements.

Shaheed Asmatullah Khan Khattak police station SHO Gol Mohammad, ASI Jamil, constable Saifullah and constable Fahim Khan received the certificates and cash prizes at a function in police lines.

The DPO asked the policemen to maintain their excellence and become a role model for their colleagues in true sense. He said that reward and punishment policy would be implemented in police department in letter and spirit.

“The performance of subordinate officials and policemen will be evaluated on weekly and monthly basis and those with shining performance will get prizes,” he said. He added that derelict and negligent cops would face stern departmental action.
