LAHORE, Jan 14: Three half-centuries helped defending champions Lahore Blues score 313 against Rest of Punjab on the first day of the Quaid Trophy match at Gaddafi Stadium here Monday.

Rest of Punjab were three without loss when play was called off 45 minutes ahead of scheduled close because of inferior light.

Bazid Khan (57) and Sohail Idrees (40) shared a third wicket stand of 105 in 96 minutes. Bazid’s 89-ball knock included 10 fours while Sohail cracked four boundaries.

Later Humayun Farhat (66) and Muhammad Hussain (50) put on 65 for the seventh wicket in just 51 minutes.

Humayun hit five fours and two sixes during his 78-ball innings in a stay of 94 minutes. Left-handed Hussain slammed seven fours and one six while facing 61 balls.

Speedsters Shabbir Ahmed captured four for 74, Asim Butt three for 60 and Abdur Rauf two for 118.
