BOMBAY: The next meeting between Mr. Gandhi and Mr. Jinnah will be on Sunday evening 5.30 and 7. The two leaders had a 100 minutes talk this evening [Sept 15]. At the end of to-day’s meeting they issued the following agreed statement:-

“Tomorrow we are not going to meet because it is a very big day in the month of Ramzan and it is the day on which the Quran was revealed. Therefore it is observed as a holiday. Thereafter we shall meet every day — on Sunday, Monday and so on till further announcement.”

There are indications that the Gandhi-Jinnah talks are proceeding satisfactorily and a prolongation of the talks, it is pointed out, may be taken to mean that the two leaders are now getting to grips with the details. There was a distinct atmosphere of cheerfulness all around to-day. Before the resumption of the talks to-day, Mr. Jinnah told pressmen: “I have received a number of telegrams and letters … thousands of them. I find it physically impossible to reply to all of them, particularly as we are engaged in our talks here, but I want to assure all those who have sent me their good wishes that I appreciate them and thank them…”
