ISLAMABAD, Aug 1: Secretary of the Pakistan Weightlifting Federation (PWF) announced on Monday that the national training camp in preparation for next year’s Commonwealth and South Asian Games (SAG) will start from Aug 15 in Islamabad. Muzaffar A. Qureshi said that weightlifters in eight weight categories and coaches who will attend the camp at the Pakistan Sports Complex had been chosen.

The Commonwealth Games are to be hosted by Melbourne in March while the South Asian Games take place in April in Colombo.

The training plan of the weightlifters was discussed in a meeting between the officials of Pakistan Sports Board, the national Olympic association and PWF last week.

The weightlifters:

56kgs: Usman Akbar (Railways), Abdullah Ghafoor (Punjab), Shoaib Habib (Railways).

62kgs: Muhammad Ali, Ishtiaq Ghafoor (Wapda), Aamir Ali (Railways).

69kgs: Muti-ur-Rehman, Jawwas Sarwar (Wapda), Ghulam Abbas (Railways)

77kgs: Muhammad Irfan (Wapda), Awais Akbar (Railways), Tariq Azam (Police)

85kgs: Shujauddin Malik, M. Shakeel Butt (Wapda), Khurrum Shahzad (Railways)

94kgs: Abad Ali, Hamayun Butt (Wapda), Rana Tehseen (Punjab)

105kgs: Sajjad Amin Malik, M. Zaheeruddin Malik (Wapda), Haroon Asif (Railways).

Plus 105kgs: Wasif Hanif Butt (Railways), Waqas Butt, Rizwanullah Lodhi (Wapda).

Coaches: Naveed Aslam Malik (Wapda) and Jawwad Hafiz Butt (Railways).
