Woman attempts suicide after ‘killing daughter’

A young woman killed her minor daughter and then tried to end her life in the Mominabad area early on Friday morning, officials said.

They added that Taniya shot dead her three-year-old daughter, Adeena, in their Bismillah Colony home. She also attempted suicide by shooting herself.

Mominabad police officer Bilal Yaqub said that the woman was hit in the abdomen and she was taken to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for treatment.

Quoting her husband, Sheeraz, the police officer said that she was an “emotionally disturbed” person.

He said that it was not known as to whether she was getting any treatment. The family claimed that they came to know about her state of mind when she got married and gave birth around three years ago. Further investigations are under way, he added.
