QUETTA: Police on Wednesday busted a gang of dacoits who were wanted for their involvement in many robberies and other crimes.

Speaking at a press conference, SSP Khuzdar Saeed Gul Afridi said the arrested dacoits had been using the uniform of Frontier Corps while committing crimes. The gang leader had also been arrested, he said.

He said that police carried out a successful operation against the dacoits in the Bajki area, on the outskirts of Khuzdar, after receiving information about their presence.

“A police team led by DSP Khuzdar Gul Ahmed and SHO Gul Hassan raided a house in the Bajki area of Khuzdar and after a heavy exchange of fire arrested three dacoits.” Several weapons, Rs400,000 in cash and bikes used in robberies were seized from the dacoits, he added.

The dacoits have been identified as Ali Ahmed, Abdul Samad and Abdul Waheed. They were involved in various robberies in Khuzdar and adjacent towns.

“They were involved in various criminal activities, including murder and attempt to murder, while a member of this gang was wanted to Karachi police for being involved in street crimes there,” the SSP Khuzdar said. An FIR has been lodged against the three dacoits and they are being interrogated.
