SWABI: The district education officer has asked private schools and colleges across Swabi not to collect summer vacation fee and warned that the registration of those found guilty of violating the directives would be cancelled.

Mr Mohammad Nisar said the government had restricted the vacation fee collection, so schools and colleges were bound to follow it.

The DEO told heads of the private educational institutions in separate letters not to charge students the summer vacation fee and said if that fee had already been collected, it should be returned in the next three days.

He said in case of non-compliance with the orders by private schools and colleges, their registration would be cancelled, while the matter would be brought to the notice of the relevant authorities for necessary action.

Many residents have complained about the collection of summer vacation by majority of schools and colleges and posted the receipts on social media.

They demanded strict action against such educational institutions.

BURGLED: Three mosques and two shops were burgled in Bamkhel region here on Sunday night.

The residents complained that burglars took away valuables from two mosques in Madakhel area, while a mosque and a shop were burgled in Kachkul Banda area.

They said the burglars took away even water pumps and taps from the Kachkul Banda mosque.

Former nazim Ihsanul Haq said several people had complained to him about burglaries and sought intervention for the police’s action against culprits.

He regretted that the two mosques, which were burgled, were located close to Bamkhel police’s check post.

Mr Haq complained that the police hadn’t registered FIRs and that burglaries were only noted down in the daily register.

He and residents demanded the early arrest and punishment of burglars.
