LAKKI MARWAT: Former members of Kaichi Kamar village council have urged the provincial government to order probe into utilisation of funds by former nazim of the village council during the last four years.

Speaking at a press conference here the other day, former naib nazim Samiullah and others alleged that the council was given a big chunk of funds for development schemes, but the former nazim in connivance with secretary had misused it. They said the uplift funds were shown as utilised on old schemes.

They urged the provincial government to hold the former nazim accountable and direct the quarters concerned to probe utilisation of uplift funds.

Meanwhile, officials of the wildlife department visited Sheikh Badin National Park as part of a plan to develop the park for conservation of biodiversity and promotion of ecotourism in the area.

Chief conservator wildlife Dr Mohsin Farooq, conservator wildlife southern circle Mohammad Ali, project director national parks Mohammad Arif and divisional forest officer wildlife, Bannu, Mohammad Hussain visited the British-era historical places at the top of Shaikh Badin, including an old bungalow, police station, squash court, circular road, graveyard, water ponds, shrine and a mosque.

Divisional forest officer, DI Khan, Khan Malook, who also accompanied them, said the authorities hailed the construction of an entrance gate and a room for communication system at Shaikh Badin National Park. They also visited the crane conservation centre located near Kurrum Bridge.
