KARACHI: A 50-year-old man was shot dead in Clifton on Sunday evening by gunmen riding a motorcycle, officials said.
The incident occurred even when Sindh has imposed a ban on pillion riding on account of Muharram.

The officials added that Abdul Hai was gunned down at his shop located on Marine Drive, Block-2 of Clifton, in the presence of several people there.

South SSP Sheeraz Nazeer said that two suspects riding a motorbike arrived there. One of them got off the motorcycle, spoke with the victim briefly and opened fire on him and fled.

He was taken to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre, where doctors pronounced him dead on arrival, said Dr Seemin Jamali.

He sustained bullet wounds on his chest. The police ruled out the possibility of a robbery attempt.

The SSP said the murder might be motivated by personal enmity. The victim, owner of a reverse osmosis plant in Clifton, was a resident of Gulistan-i-Jauhar.

The Sindh government has imposed a ban on pillion riding from 8th to 10th of Muharram but despite this, the motorcyclists carried out the murder in the high security area of the metropolis and fled.
