MANSEHRA: A local court handed down on Thursday life imprisonment to three men for the murder of five women filmed cheering male dancers at a wedding ceremony in Kohistan in 2012. Five others were acquitted in the case.

Police had lodged an FIR on the order of the Supreme Court in August last year against eight suspects for killing in the name of honour the five women and two brothers seen in the video that went viral on social media.

Afzal Kohistani, who had moved the Supreme Court seeking justice for the five women and his two brothers, was also gunned down earlier this year.

District and Sessions Judge of Kolai-Palas Safiullah Jan sentenced Mohammad Siar, Mohammad Sabeer and Mohammad Tahir to life in prison for the murder and acquitted Mehboobur Rehman, Mohammad Sarfaraz, Abdul Rasheed, Shamsul Rehman and Habibullah of all charges made against them in the FIR.
