Defence Day

Published September 4, 2019

THIS year the nation should observe Defence of Pakistan Day (Sept 6) as a day of introspection, and we should indulge in some soul searching.

Let us take stock of Pakistan’s geo-political environment. What is the plight of the weak Muslim countries? Why has the Muslim world remained nonchalant to the Kashmir issue?

Why has Pakistan’s per capita income fallen below even Bangladesh which became independent in 1971?

Why have successive Pakistani governments failed to provide universal healthcare and education to its people? And the most thought-provoking query: Why does even the Muslim world shun us Pakistanis?
