UPPER DIR: At least five people were injured when a vehicle skidded off the road and plunged into a ravine in Ali Gasar area, a remote part of Upper Dir district, on Sunday.

The local people and police said that the vehicle was going to join a wedding procession when the incident occurred. The driver lost control over the steering while negotiating a sharp turn in Ali Gasar area, plunging the vehicle into a deep gorge, they added. As a result, five people, including a woman, were injured. They were shifted to hospital by the locals.

The locals said that the accident happened owing to the dilapidated condition of the road. They said that incidents like the one on Sunday had been happening frequently because the road was not paved.
