QUETTA: Balochistan Chief Minister Jam Kamal Khan presided over a high-level meeting on Monday to review the pace of work on the development projects announced in fiscal budget 2019-20.

Kamal said that in the first quarter of current fiscal year, the provincial government has released funds for development schemes while tenders inviting bids for some projects have also been announced.

“The government has set a new precedent in Balochistan, hence speedy measures being taken in order to uplift provincial development process which would provide relief to masses,” Kamal said while adding that he will continue to monitor ongoing and future development projects.

He said that the “Chief Minister Inspection Team (CMIT) would continue monitoring development schemes across Balochistan in order to ensure timely completion and quality in all development projects.”

He also reiterated his commitment towards ensuring accountability of corrupt government officers without any pause, “CMIT has [initiated] action against irregularities in on-going development schemes and corrupt officers involved in looting public money wouldn’t be spared at any cost.”

The meeting decided to take suggestions from provincial departments prior to releasing funds.
