SIALKOT: Punjab Minister for Health Dr Yasmin Rashid has suspended Allama Iqbal Memorial Teaching Hospital (AIMTC) Medical Superintendent Dr Muhammad Farooq from service on public complaints against poor management.

She took the action during her visit to the hospital on Friday.

Talking to the patients at the hospital, Ms Rashid said the government was committed to providing advanced medical facilities to the people.

She added the government was making hectic efforts to ensure the availability of maximum medicines in public hospitals.

The minister visited children, surgical and gynae departments and met with the patients, inquiring about the treatment and medicines facilities at the hospital.

Taking notice of the complaints of the patients against the hospital management, she suspended the MS from service.

SCHOOL: The district administration has established a non-formal basic education camp school at the Pakka Garha locality of the Sialkot city for nomad children.

Deputy Commissioner Dr Syed Bilal Haider visited the camp school on Friday.

He said the district administration would provide 94 nomad children with free books, stationary and uniform.

CONVICTED: An anti-terrorism court (ATC) has awarded imprisonment to three convicts over the murder of an educationist.

The court awarded 50 years term each to Ubaid and Rehman Sadiq and 30 years to Bilal for killing an educationist, Faisal, after kidnapping him from his coaching centre in Railway Road locality of the Sialkot city on Jan 22, 2019.

ATC Judge Zafar Iqbal Naeem also ordered confiscation of all the properties of the three convicts with Rs150,000 fine on each of them.

MURDER: The body of youth who was kidnapped a week back was found in an under-construction house in Uggoki.

According to the grieved family, armed suspects, led by Sheikh Bilal, had kidnapped Hafiz Zartash of Rangpur over a monetary dispute.

They killed him on Friday and threw his body in the under-construction deserted house. The locals found the body there and informed local police.

Police shifted the body to the Allama Iqbal Memorial Teaching Hospital, Sialkot for autopsy.

Police have registered abduction-cum-murder case against Sheikh Bilal and his unidentified accomplices.
