LAHORE: A man and his wife were found hanged at their residence under mysterious circumstances in Kot Lakhpat area on Thursday.
The police followed by forensic experts rushed to the spot, when Sheraz, the son of the couple, called 15. Sheraz is a BSc student and his father was associated with a non-government organisation.
They found Bashir Ahmad hanging from fence of the stairs and his wife Sajida from the ceiling fan of their Quaid-i-Millat Colony residence.
The police officials also found a suicide note from the crime scene written by Bashir Ahmad without addressing anyone which reads, “No one is responsible for the deaths and don’t involve any body.”
The letter further reads, “If possible please help my son (probably appealing for his financial help)”.
The forensic experts believed it to be a suicide incident while the police officials were of the view that Bashir might have committed suicide after killing his wife.
Operations SSP Ismail Kharak said police would lodge a murder case in order to dig out facts behind the incident. He said Sheraz alerted the police when he came back home and found his parents dead.
In another incident occurred in Millat Park area, a young son of a police official was allegedly shot dead by armed men near his residence on Thursday.
According to the police, Waqas Gujjar was sitting outside his home where two armed men came on a motorbike and shot him in the head and chest.
They fled the scene leaving Waqas in a pool of blood. He was rushed to hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
A police official said Waqas was facing a murder case and he had just come back after appearing in the court. He was son of a police sub-inspector, Shaukat Ali.
He said he might have been killed by his rivals who were residents of the same area and the police were investigating the case.
The body has been shifted to the city morgue for autopsy.
THEFT: Some thieves took away cash, jewellery and other valuables from the house of Anwarul Haq, the son of former army chief late Gen Ziaul Haq in Cantonment area of Lahore.
According to the police, the incident occurred when Anwarul Haq had gone along with his family to Rawalpindi.
The Sarwar Road police registered a case against unidentified thieves on the complaint of his son-in-law Faizan Zahid.
According to the FIR, the thieves took away diamond rings, cash and other valuables worth over Rs1.2 million.
