LAKKI MARWAT: District nazim Iqbal Hussain Advocate has termed the class-based education system the root cause of all evils, saying that the country cannot progress with the prevailing education system.

This he said while speaking at the prize distribution ceremony in government middle school, Abakhel, at the end of a free tuition facility for poor students on Wednesday. The facility was made available for poor students during summer vacation by a group of educated youths led by district councillor Irfanullah Khan.

The ceremony was attended among others by district education officer Nazir Ahmad Khan and local elders.

The chief guest along with district education officer distributed trophies and medals among students who secured top three positions in written test held on the concluding day of free tuition facility.

The district nazim called for enforcing uniform education system to achieve the goal of sustainable development. He also called upon government to spend four per cent of GDP on education because education was the only tool for the country’s progress and development.

DEO Nazir Ahmad said the government initiatives had helped raise education standard and provide better learning environment for students in public sector schools. He asked parents to send their children to schools as getting education was their basic right.

He assured that his department would provide sufficient funds to the schools in Abakhel union council under conditional grant to meet genuine needs of students and teachers. He also assured that he would use his influence to upgrade the status of girls’ high school to higher secondary level.
