GUJRANWALA: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) registered a case against three inspectors on Wednesday for embezzling Rs6.5 millions and poor investigation into cases.
According to FIA sources, FIA inspectors Sarfraz Ranjha, Waseem Dar and Sajjad Bajwa caught a cash van that was being used for illegal currency business and seized Rs125.6 million form Umair Butt and Sajjid Butt. Later, the three inspectors embezzled Rs6.5 million from the seized money.
An inquiry, led by FIA cyber crime wing director Afzal Mehmood Butt, found them guilty. Inspectors also gave relief to Umair and Sajjad in the case to hide their embezzlement.
Inspectors Ranjha and Bajwa were on a deputation in the FIA from the police department and they would be sent back to their parent department.
CASE: The Whando police arrested on Wednesday more than a dozen people for beating a police party.
Whando Station House Officer Whando told reporters the police got information that some influential people were doing aerial firing in the area. A team raided the spot where people beat the police. Later, a heavy contingent of police arrived at the scene and arrested Bin Yamin and more than one dozens of his accomplices.
