TOBA TEK SINGH: District Health Authority Chief Executive Officer Dr Zafar Abbas has requested the Punjab Primary Healthcare Department to increase the budget of the DHQ hospital’s dialysis department from Rs5 million to Rs30 million per annum.

Speaking to reporters on Wednesday, he claimed that 12 dialysis machines were functional and an average 30 kidney patients were provided dialysis facility daily. He said he had written to the department and informed it that Rs5 million were insufficient as each patient’s dialysis cost was at least Rs2,500 and the remaining budget for dialysis was managed through funds allocated for medicines.

SUICIDE: Rescuers fished out the body of PML-N Kamalia leader Chaudhry Muhammad Sharif Fauji from the river Ravi on Wednesday.

He had allegedly committed suicide by jumping into the river on Monday. His relatives said the deceased who belonged to Chak 56/1 GB, Tukra hired a cab from Kamalia and stopped near the river. They quoted the taxi driver as having said Sharif paid him fare and jumped into the river.

PML-N MNA from Gojra Chaudhry Khalid Javed Warraich and former federal minister of state Chaudhry Asadur Rehman continued their efforts to recover the body on the second day on Wednesday.

The body was recovered near Amirpurwala spur several kilometres away from the place he jumped from.

Scores of people attended his funeral prayers.
