Villager shot dead by dacoits

CHINIOT, Jan 14: A villager was killed while another injured in exchange of firing with dacoits in different incidents here on Sunday night.

Ahmad Yar of Abadi Shajarwala was asleep in his house when cattle-lifters stormed in. Alarmed by dogs, Yar got up and opened firing on the intruders which was returned. He died instantly.

Meanwhile, dacoits barged into Muhammad Sarwar’s house in Naranga village. They shot at and injured him on resistance. He was taken to a hospital.

DEATH SENTENCE: The special court for the suppression of terrorism Judge, Malik Akram, on Monday awarded double death sentence and a fine of Rs200,000 to Muhammad Ali of Ahmad Nagar.

The convict had murdered Muhammad Khan.

Manzoor and Ijaz were acquitted.
