KARACHI, July 28: Sindh Home Minister Rauf Siddiqui has said the government would hire 3,000 private security guards in addition to the available police and Rangers personnel to ensure free, fair and peaceful local bodies election in the metropolis.
Talking to newsmen here on Wednesday night, he rejected the propaganda from certain quarters that the government was destroying peace and indulging in rigging. He said: “The government thinks positively and God will also help us.”
He held out the assurance that all efforts would be made to maintain law and order during the local bodies election and hoped that no untoward incident would take place.
In reply to a question, the minister said he was fully satisfied with the performance of law-enforcement agencies but there was still a need for improvement.
He agreed to the view that there should be freedom of expression for everyone but added that limits should also be observed. He warned that chaos would not be tolerated and the government would take stern action in this regard.
The minister directed all SHOs to provide security to any candidate asking for the same.—APP
