SHANGLA: Nazim of Alpuri tehsil Tahir Khan was released from the Battagram district jail on Monday after the local court granted him bail in a case registered against him for targeting the state’s institutions during a protest.

Additional sessions judge Shangla Aftab Iqbal accepted the nazim’s bail plea and ordered his release after hearing the arguments of the accused’s counsel.

The PML-N supporters accorded a warm welcome to him at the Pakistan-China Friendship Bridge in Dandai area.

Meanwhile, the Shangla police on Monday arrested a man in Shahpur area for assaulting a girl.

A statement issued by the district police officer claimed that Inzimam had allegedly sexually assaulted an eight-year-old girl in Koz Kana area. It added that the suspect took the girl away when she went to a local bazaar to buy grocery.

The statement said the suspect was booked by the Karora police station under sections 376 and 511 of the Child Protection Act, 2010. The police said they had begun further investigation in the case and that the suspect would be produced before a local court on Tuesday (today).
