Daily Salam, Swat Red triumph

PESHAWAR, July 27: Swat Red and Daily Salam Club advanced to the next round of the 14th District Swat Inter-club hockey championship on Wednesday. Swat Red defeated Mingora XI 3-1 while Daily Salam beat Swat XI by a solitary goal.

Swat Red grabbed an early 1-0 lead through Manzoor Khan on a field attempt. Five minutes later Mingora XI pulled level through Jehanzeb Khan.

Swat Red’s Jan Badshah broke through the opponents’ defence-line to score a field goal and make it 2-1 in the 45th minute. Inside-right Riaz followed it up with another to make it 3-1 and seal the fate of the match.

In the other match, Daily Salam beat Swat XI by a solitary goal scored by Badar Khan.—APP
