RAWALPINDI: The police will form teams tasked with ensuring that members of banned organisations are not collecting animal hides or fundraising during Eidul Azha, the city police officer said on Thursday.

CPO Mohammad Faisal Rana was speaking at a meeting attended by Superintendent of Police (SP) Saddar Rai Mazhar Iqbal, SP Potohar Syed Ali, SP Rawat Akram Khan Niazi and other officials.

He said that if any banned organisations are found to be collecting animal hides in the garrison city, the concerned station house officer will face departmental action.

Mr Rana also said that people placed on the Fourth Schedule should not leave their residences without informing the police.

He said only individuals or organisations with permission from the deputy commissioner will be allowed to collect hides. Those who were forbidden from doing so last year will face police cases if they are found collecting hides this year.

“Only those organisations and welfare institutions will be allowed to collect animal hides that have permission certificates issued by the deputy commissioner,” he said.

Mr Rana said special police teams will be formed for monitoring purposes, to ensure no organisations banned by the home department or without official permission are collecting animal hides. He said SPs in their divisions and sub-divisional police officers in their respective circles should monitor in this regard.
