KARACHI, July 27: Various parts of at least four towns – Landhi, Korangi, Jamshed and Shah Faisal — of the city either went without water or received scant supply for the second consecutive day on Wednesday reportedly owing to delay in the completion the inter-connection work of Pipri’s new filter plant.

The affected localities include Landhi, Korangi, Malir, Saudia Colony, Khokarapar, Model Colony, Mehmoodabad, Azam Basti, Akhtar Colony, Chanesor Goth and Shah Faisal Colony.

Besides, complaints of persisting water shortage have also been received from residents of North Karachi’s Sector 11-C/1, PECHS Block 6, Lea Market area, Gulshan-i-Iqbal’s Block 10, Baldia Town’s Rasheedabad and parts of Orangi Town.

Attributing the cause of short supply to the delay in the work on Pipri’s pumping station, an official of the KWSB said though the work was scheduled to be completed by Tuesday evening, it has been delayed due to some technical problems.

The work would be completed by Wednesday and the affected localities would start getting normal supply by Thursday, he added.
