LAKKI MARWAT/NOWSHERA: Five persons, including three children, drowned in Lakki Marwat and Nowshera districts on Monday.

Three children drowned in River Gambila near Kot Kashmir village of Lakki Marwat district.

Witnesses said Wasif Khan and Waseen Khan, residents of Shakh Quli Khan Killa, had come to the house of their uncle in Kot Kashmir village to attend a wedding. They along with their cousin, Arsalan, went to the river to take bath, but drowned.

Local residents retrieved the bodies.

Meanwhile, two friends drowned in Kabul River in Nowshera.

According to Rescue 1122, Shehzor, 18, and Zakirullah, 19, were bathing in Kabul River near Pir Sabaq Bridge when one of them was overpowered by the water. Seeing his friend drowning, the other one jumped into the river to rescue him, but both of them drowned. The bodies could not be retrieved till filing of this story on Monday evening.
