KARACHI, July 26: In Sindh a total number of 798 appeals were filed against acceptance and rejection of nomination papers in 10 out of 11 districts in the province where polling is scheduled on August 18 in the first phase.

The districts are Karachi city, Tando Allahyar, Ghotki, Naushero Feroze, Jacobabad, Kashmore, Mirpurkhas, Umerkot, Sanghar and Tharparkar while details of the appeals from Thatta districts were not available.

Out of 798 appeals 103 were filed against acceptance of the nominations while 695 were filed against the rejection of their nominations.

The Returning Officers, according to the election programme, would decide the fate of the appeals today.

In Karachi city alone 8 appeals were filed against the acceptance of the nominations while 105 were filed against rejection of the nominations. According to details:

Karachi West: In Karachi West 5 were against acceptance of nomination papers while 33 were against rejections. Out of 5 one appeal is on acceptance of nominations in the category of Muslim general seats, 4 against nazim/naib-nazim while against rejection 17 on Muslim general seat, 2 on Muslim women, 7 peasants/workers, 2 peasants/workers women, 1 minority communities, and 4 against nazim/naib-nazim.

Karachi Central: In Karachi Central only 27 appeals were filed against rejection of nomination papers while there was no appeal against acceptance of the nomination. Out of 27, 12 were filed on Muslim general seats, 2 on Muslim women, 8 peasants/workers, 2 peasants/ workers women, 1 minority communities and 3 in the categories of nazim/naib-nazim.

Karachi South: In Karachi South also there was no appeal against acceptance of nomination papers. However, 8 appeals were filed against rejection of nomination papers. Out of 8, three were filed in the category of Muslim general seats, 1 on Muslim women, 1 on peasants/ workers, 1 peasants/workers women, and 2 on rejection of nomination in the category of nazim/ naib-nazim.

Karachi East: In Karachi East two appeals were filed against acceptance of nomination papers each one in category of peasants/workers and peasants/workers women while 28 were filed against rejection of nominations. Out of 28, 10 were in the category of Muslim general, 2 Muslim women, 2 peasants/workers, 4 peasants/workers women, 2 minority communities, and 8 in category of nazim/naib-nazim.

Malir: In Malir one appeal was filed against acceptance of the nomination in category of nazim/naib-nazim while 9 were filed against rejection of nominations.

Out of 9 appaels, 2 were in the category of Muslim general, 3 in peasants/workers women, 2 in minority communities and 8 in the category of nazim and naib-nazim.

In district Tando Allahyar, only 24 appeals were filed against rejection of nominations while in district Ghotki 15 were filed against acceptance and 72 against the rejection of nominations.

In district Naushero Feroze 15 appeals were filed against the acceptance of nominations while 118 were filed against the rejection of nominations.

In district Jacobabad 13 were filed against acceptance while 78 were filed against the rejection of nominations.

In district Kashmore 22 were filed against acceptance while 40 appeals were filed against the rejection of nominations.

In district Mirpurkhas 7 appeals were filed against the acceptance of nomination papers while 109 were filed against the rejection.

In district Umerkot only 6 appeals were filed against acceptance while 68 were filed against the rejection of nominations.

In district Sanghar 10 appeals were filed against acceptance while 53 were filed against the rejection of nominations.

In district Tharparkar 7 appeals were filed against acceptance and 28 against the rejection of nominations.
