PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has chalked out a comprehensive plan in order to provide playing facilities to youngsters across the province.

This was stated by provincial secretary sports Kamran Rehman while talking to mediapersons at Peshawar Sports Complex here on Sunday. He said government planned to construct 1,000 playing facilities across the province out of which130 playgrounds had already been completed at district level.

He added that apart from sports complexes in each divisional headquarters having all indoor facilities, steps had been taken to provide playing facilities at tehsil and union council levels.

He said Rs5.5 billion had been allocated for the construction of various sports facilities across the province including the merged tribal districts.

The official said that besides developing sports infrastructure focus has been given to provide best coaching facilities to the players of all games and that was why 55 coaches had been appointed in various games and appointment of 72 others was in the pipeline.

He directed the authorities to utilise all available resources for the promotion of sports. He said Rs300 million had been allocated for construction of a sports complex in Karak and Rs250 million for construction of grounds at union council level.

In addition to that, Rs480 million had been allocated for upgradation of Peshawar Sports Complex, Rs132.76 million for the construction of Sports Complex near Chamkani village, Rs180 million for upgradation of Mardan Sports Complex, Rs80 million laying a hockey turf in Swat, Rs600 million for the sports facilities at divisional headquarters and Rs96 million for promotion of water sports.
