KOHAT: The district administration has ordered desilting of irrigation channels in Kohat to ensure that water reaches the agricultural fields at the tail end.

Speaking at an open forum in Sherkot here on Thursday, assistant commissioner Furqan Ashraf directed the department concerned to start desilting of irrigation channels in the district.

He asked the people to forget their petty disputes and personal likes and dislikes in the launch of development schemes.

The session was attended by heads of line departments, elders and a local body member Musawar Hussain.

After listening to the complaints, he directed the tehsil municipal administration to clean the area every week. He said that the all non-government tubewells should be taken into government custody and all revenue and land transfer cases should be resolved on priority.

He said that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Highways Authority should take the local people into confidence for smooth construction of Kohat- Hangu road.
