LAHORE: National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Director General Shahzad Saleem has said they received complaints of mistreatment of suspects on judicial remand in provincial jails.

IG Prisons Shahid Saleem, additional home secretary Khizar Afzaal and other jail officials briefed the NAB director general on Wednesday regarding the provision of facilities to prisoners and their problems.

The meeting was told that some 150 suspects in NAB cases and total 46,000 prisoners were languishing the Punjab prisons.

Shahzad Saleem said female staff should be present in jail during the prisoners meeting with their families. He said the NAB’s prison cells should be replicated in the prisons.
