IN the country created on the basis of Islamic ideology, financial corruption is not the only crime. There are crimes more heinous than that of financial misdeeds. I refer to what we see daily — the utterances of lies, false promises, demonstration of utmost arrogance, extra-judicial killings, children’s kidnapping and murder and the greatest of all Riba(usury). The Quran warns believers that if they lend money on interest then they should be prepared for a battle with God and His messenger (PBUH)).
This brings me to another issue -- the grant of Rs175 million of taxpayers’ money to 133 bar associations by the federal law minister in connection with the reference made against a senior Supreme Court judge well known for his honesty and bold and righteous judgements. Isn’t this financial corruption? How can such a state be called Riyasat-i-Madina?
