NOWSHERA: The business community on Wednesday announced to observe a complete shutter down strike on July 13 against price hike and imposition of taxes on traders by the government.

In this connection, transporters also announced strike on the same day against the government’s ‘anti-people’ policies. A decision to this effect was made at a meeting of traders chaired by president Anjuman-i-Tajiran, Nowshera, Khalid Khan Afridi.

It was also attended by Anjuman-i-Tajiran, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa president Mehr Ilahi, general secretary Ihsan Bacha, president Sarafa bazaar association, Charsadda, Iftikhar Khan, general secretary Habibullah Khan, traders’ leaders from Swabi and Mardan and provincial president of chemist and druggists’ association, Haji Ismail Khan and others.

The participants appealed to Prime Minister Imran Khan to order withdrawal of taxes imposed in the budget. They said if the government did not pay heed to the people’s problems then its downfall was likely.

On the occasion, the local transporters’ union also announced to support the shutter down strike of the traders community, and appealed to the general public to extend support to the strike.

Meanwhile, local cloth dealers staged a sit-in at Shobra Chowk on Wednesday against raids on their outlets by government officials.
