RAWALPINDI: A police official was killed and another injured in a road traffic accident in Rawat on Tuesday.

Head constable Ishfaq Hussain Butt, 32, along with his colleague Bilal Haider was leaving the Rawat police station for a field duty on a motorcycle when a speeding wagon hit them. As a result, Ishfaq died on the spot and Haider sustained injuries.

They were shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital where the injured was stated to be in a critical condition. The wagon driver escaped but the vehicle was impounded.

The deceased, a resident of Gujar Khan, was posted to the Rawat police station about a month ago.

Meanwhile, two persons, including a firefighter, were hospitalised after they sustained injuries during a firefighting at a milk shop in Sadiqabad on Tuesday.

The cause of the fire was stated to be leakage from a gas cylinder.

Firefighters led by Bilal Ahmed, 30, reached the scene and started extinguishing the flames during which Nadeem Sajid, 25, and Ahmed were injured. They were shifted to Benazir Bhutto Hospital and later referred to the Holy Family Hospital.

Abdullah Zada, 27, was killed after being hit by a passenger train near Railway Scheme No 9 in the limits of Airport police.

Abdullah, suffering from hearing impairment, was crossing the track when he was knocked down.
