LAHORE: A five-day painting workshop organised by the Lahore Arts Council at Alhamra Art Gallery kicked off on Monday.
Mina Haroon, assistant director of fine arts at Alhamra Art Centre, said visual arts played an important role in developing aesthetics. The argument for inclusion of the arts in academic syllabi is that such an activity fosters transferable skills and boosts overall academic achievements. Workshop opportunities enhance well-being of a student in visual arts, she added.
Lahore Arts Council Executive Director Ather Ali Khan said that one of the most enlightening aspects of Alhamra was the provision of a rich cultural environment to “our young and amateur artists and students who have just begun learning arts professionally”. As far as this workshop is concerned emotional and mental development was very much important for children. Alhamra, through acting and painting workshops, engaged children in different activities so they could be polished in visual arts, he added.
The workshop will continue till June 28 and certificates given to the students at the end.
