GUJRANWALA: A massive fire erupting in the warehouse of the Nandipur power project here on Saturday allegedly gutted a huge quantity of heavy-duty oil.

According to workers working on the project, the fire erupted suddenly and they saw flames leaping from the windows of the warehouse where dozens of drums filled with heavy-duty oil were stored.

They said soon the blaze engulfed the whole building of the warehouse.

On being informed of the fire by project management, five fire-engines of Rescue 1122 reached the scene and started extinguishing the blaze.

It took four hours to extinguish the fire.

According to the officials, no loss of life has so far been reported in the incident.

They said the fire also damaged the warehouse building.

COMPLAINT: The parents of a girl who had gone to China after marrying a Chinese citizen have filed a complaint with the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), seeking her recovery, alleging she was detained and being tortured by her husband.

The parents said in the complaint that their daughter, Arooj (24), a resident of Francisabad, married a Chinese citizen, Wui Shing, some five months ago and went to China with her husband.

They said that on Sunday they received a video message from Arooj that showed she was illegally detained by her husband, who also subjected her to torture.

In the message, the girl appealed to the Government of Pakistan to get her back to the country.

The FIA is investigating the matter.

LABOURER DIES: A labourer died, while three others were injured after they fell from an under-construction building allegedly because of strong wind here on Saturday.

According to witnesses, the labourers were working on an under-construction building at Ladhywala Warraich while standing on a wooden platform. Suddenly a strong wind started blowing that pushed four of them down.

As a result, Iqbal, 55, died on the spot, while mukhtar, 45, Iftkhar, 45 and Salman, 22 suffered serious injuries. The injured were shifted to the district headquarters hospital in a critical condition.
