LAST week, a road accident on the main Makran Coastal Highway took the life of Tahir Peshkani, assistant director of the fisheries department and well-known Baloch singer.

He was travelling to Karachi with his family. In the accident, a woman and her son were also killed.

It was shocking to learn that there was no ambulance or emergency services available at the nearest healthcare facility or on the route.

The highway, which has been functional since 2005, has seen a number of gruesome road accidents, so why has the government not done anything about this?
