PESHAWAR, July 20: An economic growth and uplift strategy of the NWFP government underlines the need to focus on human resource development and create a conducive environment to attract private investment, official sources said. It urges greater efforts for human resource development through education and training to achieve the economic growth target.
The strategy, which is under preparation, eyes greater private investment in near future to create jobs for the skilled and un-skilled workforce and enhance income level to generate economic activities at a large scale.
It points out that the government can attract this investment by removing weaknesses in its policies and offsetting its natural disadvantages.
In this respect, it also asks for improving general law and order situation in the province and reducing the cost of business to attract the investors.
Underlying the disadvantages and weaknesses hampering investment in the Frontier province, the strategy says the province was the worst among the federating units in terms of lacking conducive investment climate because of poor law and order situation.
