PESHAWAR, July 20: The NWFP governor’s secretariat, Fata, requires an estimated Rs306.37 million for the construction of a cadet college in Mohmand Agency. NWFP Governor Khalil-ur-Rehman attended a presentation on the proposed project of cadet college, Mohmand Agency, here at the Governor’s House, said a handout issued here on Wednesday.
The project director, Brig (retd) Tilat Imtiaz Naqvi, explained various aspects of the project scheduled to be completed in three phases covering a six-year period.
The decision to establish a second cadet college in the tribal areas was taken last year. The first cadet college was established in the mid-1970s in Razmak, North Waziristan Agency.
The governor described the project as an important one as it would provide quality education.
He said that its implementation was subject to approval from the federal government.
He said that provision of funds was a pre-requisite because the FATA Annual Developmental Programme (ADP) had already been committed.
He said that the issue would be taken up with the federal government at the appropriate level to ensure availability of the required financial resources over and above the ADP funding.
The governor said that he was in favour of establishing such institutions and he assured that work on the first phase would start soon.
MMA CRITICIZED: Lack of interest on the part of the provincial government is a major cause of the devastation caused by floods, said Sikandar Sherpao, provincial secretary-general of PPP (S) and MPA, here on Wednesday in a press statement, says app.
Prompt action of the rulers could have averted the situation, he said while expressing sorrow over the devastation caused by flood in Shabqadar.
He said the MMA had not planned any safety measures against floods which resulted in inundation of land and loss of property.
The MPA claimed that the MMA government had not done anything for the relief of the flood victims.
Sikandar Sherpao alleged misuse of funds by the provincial government and said that funds for flood victims were being used for other projects.
He said his party would extend support and help to the affected people and would not abandon them in this hour of need.
