GUJRANWALA, July 20: An eyewitness in a murder case was allegedly kidnapped by his rivals here on Wednesday at Papnakh Ladheywala Warriach village to prevent him from recording his statement in the court. Reports said Muhammad Azam was an eyewitness in a murder case and the court had summoned him for evidence on next hearing at the end of this month. On Wednesday, Ghulam Husain, Salamat Ali and Irfan abducted him from his house.

The police have registered a case and are investigating.

POLICE BEATEN UP: Seven robbers beat up a two-member police patrol and snatched an official rifle from them here on Wednesday in Alipur Chattha.

Reports said head constable Shehbaz Ahmad and constable Mohsin Ali Shah were patrolling at night on Qadirabad Road by a motorcycle when the dacoits beat them up. The policemen were rushed to the DHQ hospital.

A case has been registered.
