HYDERABAD, July 20: Doctors doing diploma in various disciplines have appealed to the Sindh governor to order payment of Rs6,200 per month stipend to trainee doctors as promised by him earlier this year. Speaking at a news conference at the press club here on Tuesday, Dr Mohammad Ahmad Chaudhry, Dr Syed Inayat Ali Shah, Dr Amina, Dr Samina, Dr Lata and others said that following protest demonstrations by doctors doing diploma courses, the Sindh governor announced on May 11 that these doctors would be given stipend.

They said despite the governor’s assurance no action had been by the authorities. They regretted that while doctors doing degree courses had been allowed stipend, those doing post-graduate diploma were being denied the same.

Terming it a great injustice to doctors who were performing their duties round the clock in different hospitals, they said lady doctors were the worst sufferers as they performed their duties for 48 hours at a stretch.
