LAHORE: Chief Minister Usman Buzdar has said to truly deserve the title of “Khadim-e-Aala” one has to do selfless service and resolve the issues being faced by common man.

“Former rulers had built only show-off projects instead of facilitating common people and massively damaged the national exchequer,” the chief minister said.

In a statement issued here on Sunday, Mr Buzdar said he was neither in favour of showoff nor “fake” works. He regretted that the development projects of previous governments were limited to advertisements alone and added that the present government was fixing issues which were created because of former rulers’ wrong policies.

He said the previous rulers had deceived south Punjab people in the name of development and hollow claims, but there was no progress on the ground. He said the people of south Punjab had given full mandate to the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf government and it was taking practical steps to uplift living standards of the people.

He said separate development budget had been allocated for south Punjab and added the ‘South Punjab Secretariat’ would become functional in the next fiscal year where an additional chief sectary, special sectaries of different departments and an additional inspector general of police would be posted. Then, he added, the people of south Punjab would not need to travel to Lahore for getting their problems solved.
