SRINAGAR, July 18: Indian troops shot dead a freedom fighter in occupied Kashmir and found the body of another said to be part of a group that infiltrated in the region a week ago, the army said on Monday. “Alert troops late on Sunday shot dead an armed infiltrator along the LoC (the ceasefire line between India and Pakistan in Kashmir) in the northern Uri sector,” Indian army spokesman Vijay Batra said.

“Searches are on to find out more militants in the area,” Mr Batra said.

Meanwhile, Indian troops searching for militants in the glacial heights of northern Gurez area recovered the body of another rebel on Monday, taking the toll to 12 killed in the sector over the past week, he said.
