KHAR: District and sessions judge of Bajaur tribal district Nasrullah Khan Gandapur on Monday announced that the region’s judicial complex will become functional on May 30 (Thursday).

He made the announcement during a visit to the district along with a team of judicial officials.

“The shifting of the judicial complex to Bajaur district from Timergara (Lower Dir district) is direly needed to dispense ‘easy and speedy’ justice to the people on their doorstep,” he said.

The DSJ has been working in Timergara since his appointment on March 11 due to the nonexistence a judicial complex in Bajaur district.

Mr Gandapur said since the Bajaur court began function in the Timergara rest house few months ago, he wanted to see the judicial complex function in the tribal district to dispense easy and quick justice to the residents in their own region but the nonexistence of a building and others facilities for it came in the way.

“The Bajaur judicial complex will become functional on May 30,” he said.

Along with other judicial officials, the judge also said the court would begin hearing into cases the same day.

They also met senior officials of the district administration and learned that work on the judicial complex in the Civil Colony was likely to finish today (Tuesday).

The judges also visited the Khar prison and met prisoners to know about their problems.

They asked the jail officials to behave well with inmates and ensure provision of facilities to them.

PROFITEERS HELD: The district administration on Monday arrested and fined several vendors for profiteering in Bajaur tribal district.

The action was taken by a team during a surprise visit to Nawagai bazaar.

Also, the administration arrested a butcher for selling the meat of dead animals.

The Levies Force officials later buried the seized meat at a faraway deserted place, while the butcher was sent to jail for interrogation.
